Erica Jong is one of my favorite writers. She has written both prose and poetry. On the back of my copy of her most famous novel Fear of Flying she writes (and I'm paraphrasing here) that her main goal was to write from the "female naked consciousness" which she does fearlessly (or makes it seem fearless), which is more than I can say for myself. A friend of mine who also writes poetry wrote a short poem that shocked me (in a good way) and has a blog page for "... poems that say things that are not usually said in polite company ..." I have decided that I am going to write and post words from my naked female consciousness (or at least less clothed). We'll see.
